In March 1976 and 1977, respectively, the first and second National Conferences on Critical Reading of Classical Sociologists and the problems of Iranian Society were held successfully. They were devoted to two Classical Sociologists and the founders of Sociology, Emile Durkheim and Max Weber. Hence, Department of Sociology at Kharazmi University intends to convene this conference as an annual scientific event in collaboration with the Iranian Sociological Association and each year address the views and theories of one of the classical and distinguished sociologists.
Now, in the third national conference on "Critical Reading of Classical Sociologists and the problems of Iranian Society", the sociological views of Georg Simmel as another classical thinker, whose views have greatly influenced the intellectual traditions of social sciences and sociology, will be critiqued and their relevance, appropriateness or inappropriateness for understanding and analysing the social problems of Iranian society will be discussed. |
